- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Red chilly - 1
- Cumin - 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves - 2 strand
- Hing/Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
- Tomato - 1
- Tamarind - small piece (Grape size)
- Rasam powder - 1 tbsp
- Cilantro - handful
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Salt
Method:
Soak tamarind in warm water for 10 min(or) microwave for 30 seconds
and squeeze juice and discard pulp. Heat pan, add oil, fry cumin,curry leaves,
hing, red chilly, cut tomato pieces, crushed whole garlic for a min.
Add tamarind juice and let it come to a boil. Add rasam powder
and salt to taste. Let it boil for couple of mins.Switch off stove
and add finely chopped cilantro. Serve with white rice and ghee.
This recipe is very simple and easy to make. This was the first rasam type i made at home and it was a hit.
