Chaat Chutney

Chaat Chutney/ dip, colorful mint chutney and sweet tamarind chutney which is served with Indian snacks as a dip or used as sauce in Indian Chaat. Green chutney is spicy and brown chutney is sweet and tangy.


Ingredients:

Green Chutney:
  • Green chilly -2
  • Cilantro - 1 cup
  • Mint -  1/4 cup
  • Sugar - pinch
  • Lime jucie - 1 tbsp
  • Olive oil - 1 tbsp
Sweet Tamarind Chutney:
  • Tamarind paste - 4 tbsp
  • Dates - 4
  • Raisins -6
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp 
  • Ginger powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Black salt - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp
Method:

Green Chutney:
  1. Grind all ingredients listed under green chutney to fine paste, do not add any water
  2. Stays good for 3 days if refrigerated in air tight container
Sweet Tamarind Chutney:
  1. Grind tamarind paste, seedless dates and raisins to fine paste
  2. Add cumin powder, red chilly powder, pepper powder and ginger powder
  3. Add sugar, black salt and mix well
  4. Stays good for 10 days if refrigerated in air tight container
