Podi Idly/ Idly Upma

Podi Idly/ Idly Upma, made from leftover Idly (steam cooked rice cakes) spiced with Indian Chutney powder

Serves:4

Ingredients:
  • Idly - 8
  • Onion - 1
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Pepper - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 strand
  • Asafotieda - 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeic powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Dry Curd chilly - 4 (optional)
  • Podi / Chutney powder - 1 tbsp
  • Cilantro - handful
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
Method:
  1. Cut Idly into small cubes and keep it aside
  2. Heat pan, add oil and fry mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, pepper, curry leaves and dry curd chilly
  3. Add turmeric powder, asafoetida, onion, salt and fry till onion changes color
  4. Add chutney powder and toss cubed idly pieces
  5. Garnish with chopped cilantro and server hot
