Kadai Tofu, a restaurant style recipe. Tofu can also be substituted with Paneer or Boiled Egg.
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- Tofu - 1/2 packet
- Capsicum - 2
- White Onion - 1
- Ginger Garlic paste - 2 tbsp
- Tomato - 4
- Red Chilly powder - 2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Kastoori Methi - 1 tsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Cilantro - handful
- Coriander seeds - 2 tbsp
- Red chilly - 5
- Grind coriander seeds and red chilly coarsely without adding water
- Cut tofu or Paneer into cubes
- Cut onion and Capsicum into square pieces
- If using paneer, cut panner into cubes and add in boiling water for a min and remove to make it soft
- If using tofu, squeeze out water from tofu
- Heat pan, fry paneer or tofu till its golden brown on all sides and set aside
- In same pan on high flame fry capsicum and onion, do not overcook, remove them while its still crunchy
- Heat pan, add oil, fry ground coriander and chilly powder till raw smell subsides
- Add ginger garlic paste and fry for two mins
- Add finely chopped tomato, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and cook till oil separates
- Add little water if required to get thick gravy
- Add kastoori methi, salt and cook for a min
- Toss with fried panner or tofu, capsicum, onion
- Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with roti/ paratha/ fried rice.
