Bhel Puri

Bhel Puri, most popular street food in India. Its a low calorie chaat / snack, which is tangy, sweet and spicy. Its simple and easy party appetizer.  Prepare in advance and mix just before serving to avoid it getting soggy.

Serves:4

Ingredients:
  • Bhel mix - 3 cups
  • White Onion - 1/2
  • Tomato - 1
  • Cucumber - 1
  • Raw mango - 1/4
  • Cilantro - handful
  • Green chutney - 2 tbsp
  • Tamarind sweet chutney - 2 tbsp
Bhel Mix:
  • Puffed rice - 2 cups
  • Roasted Poha - 1 cup
  • Boondi - 1/4 cup
  • Sev - 1/4 cup
  • Peanuts - 1/4 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tsp
 Method:  



  1. You can prepare bhel mix at home or use store bought Bhel mix.
  2. To prepare bhel mix, heat a wide pan, add oil and fry peanuts, add puffed rice, roasted poha, boondi, sev, turmeric powder and red chilly powder
  3. Fry for a minute till puffed rice gets crispy and store in a air tight container for later use
  4. Chop onion, tomato, raw mango and seedless cucumber
  5. In a mixing bowl, add bhel mix, chopped onion, tomato, raw mango, cucumber and mix well
  6. Add green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney and mix well
  7. Add chopped cilantro and server immediately
