Buttermilk Vada/ Mor Vadai

Buttermilk Vada/ Mor vadai from my family recipe book, is quick and easy snack. It is made from rice flour and sour buttermilk.

Makes:8 Servers:2

Ingredients:
  • Rice Flour - 1 cup
  • Sour Butter milk - 1 cup
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Green chilly - 3
  • Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
  • Bengal Gram dhal - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 strand
  • Oil
  • Salt
Method:
  1. Heat pan and add little oil 
  2. Fry mustard, urad dhal, bengal gram dhal, chopped green chilly and curry leaves
  3. Add sour buttermilk to fried ingredients and salt to taste
  4. Allow for one boil and switch off stove.
  5. Add rice flour and mix well without any lumps
  6. Allow to cool down till its warm and can be handled with hands 
  7. Apply oil in hands or use a greased flat plate
  8. Make small lime sized ball and flatten it with a hole in the center
  9. Deep fry in hot oil
  10. Repeat it for remaining dough
  11. Serve hot and enjoy. Does not require any dip or chutney to serve with this vada.
