Ingredients:
- Spinach - 2 cups
- Toor dal - 1/4 cup
- Onion - 1/2
- Tomato -1
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Green chilly - 1
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
- Thalipu vadagam - 1
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Red chilly - 1
- Ghee/Melted butter - 1 tsp
- Salt
- Pressure cook toor dal, chopped onion, tomato, slit green chilly, crushed garlic, turmeric powder, few drops of oil, salt to taste, one cup water for 3 whistles
- In a pan boil water, add chopped spinach leaves, cook for 5 mins and drain water
- Heat pan, add pressure cooked dal mixture, boiled spinach leaves and bring to a boil
- For seasoning, heat ghee, add mustard, cumin seeds, thalipu vadagam, asafoetida, red chilly and add it to spinach dal mixture
- Serve hot with white rice and ghee
